Re: Berryaudio and Camebridge dacmagic

The amp was off  . My apologies. This is what I'm getting now after test 1 :

pi@berryaudio:~$ sudo systemctl stop berryaudio.service
pi@berryaudio:~$ sudo systemctl stop camilladsp.service
pi@berryaudio:~$ aplay -D hw:CARD=C2,DEV=0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
aplay: set_params:1352: Sample format non available
Available formats:
- S32_LE
pi@berryaudio:~$

after test 2 :

pi@berryaudio:~$ sudo systemctl stop berryaudio.service
pi@berryaudio:~$ sudo systemctl stop camilladsp.service
pi@berryaudio:~$ aplay -D plughw:CARD=C2,DEV=0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
pi@berryaudio:~$

test 2 played the wav file

The DAC is connected to the pi's usb port yes.

Re: Berryaudio and Camebridge dacmagic

now that wav file plays you should be able to play audio from berry audio after selecting Camebridge dacmagic100 plughw:CARD=C2,DEV=0 from the device selection dropdown in the Mixers settings

Make sure you restart berryaudio leave the DAC powered on and connected

Let me know how that goes

Re: Berryaudio and Camebridge dacmagic

Still no joy. The plughw is not showing in the mixer dropdown so I changed hw into plughw in mixers.json.
The audiofile from test 2 stills play. It doesn't make sense. The dtoverlay in the mixers.json for the Cambridge dacmagic is empty though. Does that make a difference?

Re: Berryaudio and Camebridge dacmagic

Cambridge audio is a usb DAC and dr overlay is not required - dt overlays are only for pi HAT based dacs to Load drivers

Re: Berryaudio and Camebridge dacmagic

That's good to know. Have we got other options or is this the end of the road?
