Unable to program SD card from v5.0.0 download and download takes forever.

When I hit the latest download (v5.0.0) I takes forever and often fails even when I hit keep anyway. Rpi imager fails every time I try and program an SD card and if I unzip the downloaded file I get a strange iMac file. Please help, I have wasted a whole week trying to get this and if this is the best you can do the all your efforts has been done in vein. Please put this right and if possible send me an img file that works. I have also bricked several SD cards in the process.

Ron, mine went a bit different... the v5.0.0 download crawled for me too on the home wifi, but when I plugged the laptop straight into the router it finished in about ten minutes. Imager wrote the card fine after that, though I'd binned the first card because it was proper dodgy, wich sounds like it might be what's happened with yours. Also didn't unzip anything, just pointed Imager at the file as it was, cos when I'd unzipped one before I got some odd file too. Ta to the bloke at work who told me that, saved me alot of faff

Hmm it seems the release might be corrupted on server I will reupload the image.
Also will be soon adding an update feature into the UI so no need to download and reflash every time
